Open-source licences

PlayWithFiles is built on free and open-source software. Thank you to everyone who makes it. Each library keeps its own licence and copyright; the notices are kept in the site's files. The licences below were read from each package's own information.

LAME (MP3 encoder)

MP3 files are made with the LAME encoder (version 3.100), licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL;licence text). It is includedunmodified by the @mediabunny/mp3-encoder package and is shipped as a separate file, not mixed into our own code. The LAME source code is available atlame.sourceforge.io. You may replace the encoder file with your own build of LAME.

libheif and libde265 (HEIC pictures)

Opening iPhone HEIC pictures uses heic2any (MIT licence), which includes a build of thelibheifandlibde265libraries. Their authors license both libraries under version 3 of the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL-3.0;licence text; the projects' ownlibheif noticeandlibde265 notice). Their sample programs, which we do not use, are MIT. We have not changed the libraries. They are built into the single heic2any file that we include as it comes, so they are not a separate file you can swap out. Their source code is at the links above.
