Your codes are made on your own device: UPC-A barcode runs inside your browser, so what you type stays with you and nothing is sent anywhere. Codes for web links are switched off for now; the other types work. It is free and needs no sign-up.

How to use UPC-A barcode

  1. Pick the type of code you need, then type or paste your content.
  2. Choose colours and a style if you like; the tool warns you if a code may be hard to scan.
  3. Press Save. The tool reads the code back to make sure it scans before you can download it.
  4. Download the code as PNG, SVG or PDF.

Questions and answers

Is anything sent anywhere when I make a code?
No. Everything stays on your device. Codes for web links are switched off for now. When they come back, each link will be checked against Google Web Risk to help flag suspected unsafe links.
Do the codes I make expire?
No. The code holds your text or link directly, so it does not depend on this site and keeps working even if you never visit again.
Is UPC-A barcode really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you use it for.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It works in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. A very large file can be slow on an older phone because everything runs on the device.
Is there a file size limit?
We set no limit. The real limit is your device’s memory: if a very large file will not open, try a computer or work in smaller parts.
